Over the past year David has provided an outstanding service to my elderly parents: identifying issues quickly and providing a realistic quote and estimate of timescales of the work which was extensive. Not only did he complete the work to a high standard when he said he would but the work even came in under the estimate price.  He kept both myself and my parents updated at every step of the works and liaised directly with other agencies as required.

In February 2021 David was contracted to undertake the required five yearly test of the electrical installation of the Everest Hall in Llanfairwaterdine, Shropshire. As a member of the management committee and former chartered electrical engineer, I liaised with David during the two days of testing. The testing was carried out in a very thorough and professional way and I was given clear feedback on the issues that emerged during the testing. The outcome of the testing was that the installation was unsatisfactory.

As a result of the outcome of the testing the management committee asked David to quote for the necessary work to give us a satisfactory installation. His well prepared quote was accepted and he gave us a start date. He started work on time and finished the job on time. His organisation and work rate were excellent and resulted in a new three-phase switchboard and many other necessary changes.

Throughout the whole complex job, David started and finished on time and kept me well informed.

Overall his work was excellent.

David recently completed a total rewire of our old, four storey, farmhouse, workshop and external lighting - a big job which needed careful planning. We can thoroughly recommend David in every way, he is reliable, arrives on time and works the whole day. He is totally trustworthy and has a very positive attitude to problem solving. For us, in an old beamed property, it was important that the results were aesthetically pleasing as well as 100% safe and he took care to explain his plans whilst clearly never compromising on any safety aspects of the work. We also liked the quality of the fittings provided. Moreover, if you need to have a professional in your home, he is an extremely nice person to have around, very good company and not at all intrusive. The disruption to our lives was considerabbly less than we imagined it might be.

Initially, we asked David Boxall to carry out an electrical survey for us. David provided a detailed report and advice on the condition and safety of the installation. As we suspected, the installation was not safe and we felt the best option was a complete rewire. David was brilliant spending time to understand exactly what we wanted, and he gave some great advice on how things could be done so we could decide on detail. Our house is an old property but David showed great knowledge and experience in working on older properties which really inspired our confidence. At the outset David assured us he would be able to conceal all the wiring even in some places we did not think it would be possible.

David agreed a date with us for the work to begin and he set out a schedule and time frame which was really helpful. On the agreed date David began the work.

Working on his own, David was very professional and extremely hard working. During the course of the rewiring, David would always check to ensure everything was done exactly to our wishes and was really helpful in making practical suggestions when necessary. David paid careful attention to the aesthetics of the work undertaken, taking time and effort to conceal wiring and fill in areas of work. David did exactly what he said he would do and more - even setting the post for an outside light. He always tidied up and hoovered at the end of each day.

On completion of the work David provided all necessary certificates and a plan.

We have complete trust in David, and consider his work to be of a very high standard. We would recommend David to family and friends without question, and know that if we need any additional electrical work completing in the future, we would call on him without hesitation

David recently re-wired the house for us.  It was not a process we looked forward to – in fact we thought of moving house to avoid it, but decided we had better bite the bullet and get it done.  David did everything he could to avoid disruption.  He is very hard working, always polite, courteous and cheerful.  He came when he said he would and we had no concerns about leaving him in the house while we went out.  He was very careful moving our things about and he cleaned up well at the end of each day.  He had to remove and replace some tiles and we wouldn’t be able to tell he had done it.  He had quoted a fixed price for the job and he stuck to it, despite finding unexpected things in the existing wiring.  We would have no hesitation in recommending him.

"We moved into our new home knowing there was work to do to bring it up to present day standards. We knew the importance of using an electrician who was registered with a Government approved organisation as all electrical work in a home must be carried out in line with Part P of the Building Regulations.  David is registered with the NICEIC and is a registered Competent Person. I checked.

 

True electricians have to pass exams & they are regularly evaluated by the inspectors of their trade organisation to make sure they are safe & are current with the latest regulations. 

 

We phoned three electricians & David was the only one who could be bothered to return our call. We asked him to do a condition report on our home & he picked up every single problem that I, as a former electronics technician in the army, had identified myself. I have to say there were more that I had missed, but each one was explained, & I knew enough to know that each was genuine.

 

We engaged David to do a full rewire of our home. His quote was in line with expectations having researched what "qualified" electricians charge for this work in comparably sized homes.

 

He worked around our lives causing as little disruption as humanly possible & with animals in the house he was considerate & safety conscience at all times. Over the time he was in our home, I knew I could have trusted him with a key & left him all alone in our house to do the work. There is no greater compliment I can pay than that.

 

We WILL be employing him again for our future projects (utility room & garden room) & I have no problem in recommending him to anyone & everyone (& I have; to my father-in-law). It is really not worth the risk of employing a self titled electrician who is not qualified, probably has no insurance, has little interest in your safety & takes your money & runs.

I found David Boxall quite by chance on the internet and had not seen any of the wonderful testimonials that people had written about him.  When I rang his mobile, he answered after a few rings and was most helpful. We arranged for him to call round the next day and just as promised, he telephoned beforehand to say what time he would arrive and was true to his word.  He carried out the work efficiently and had to return the next day after acquiring a part.  Again, he telephoned beforehand and we arranged a time for him to call.  He completed the work quickly and was most amiable.

David Boxall has recently rewired our period property. David was upfront with the cost of the rewire, and the price he quoted at the beginning was the price we paid, there were no hidden extras which was really helpful when budgeting. David dealt with the electricity board on my behalf as we didn't have the required voltage entering the property from the outset. This was a huge weight off my mind. In fact during the whole project David willingly gave advice on all aspects of the renovation. This certainly made the project a lot less stressful for me, a first timer. David was reliable, trust worthy and completely transparent. His work was of the highest standard and he is extremely knowledgeable in his field. Employing David was absolutely the best decision. David is the most professional, knowledgeable, hardworking, reliable electrician we have ever had the pleasure of having to work in our home.

Our 19th Century cottage was in dire need of electrical attention having not been touched for many years. The daunting prospect of a complete rewire and having a new fuse board fitted was made totally achievable, affordable too, with very competitive pricing, and without major upheaval due to David's calm and organised demeanour.
 
David is methodical and thorough. He has a huge regard for safety and is passionate about his subject and things being done correctly. This is to be admired. 
During the initial planning stage he worked with us to find solutions to our electrical needs in every room i.e. lighting, number and position of power points etc, nothing was too much trouble (fitted a shower without any hesitation). His 'Can Do' attitude is so refreshing without worrying about a massive bill at the end.

Mr David Boxall is a well qualified , reliable and highly professional Electrician. He recently did some very good work for us. He specified his charges in advance and they were reasonable.

Before beginning work he tested the voltage at the property. We believe he is the first electrician we have ever employed who has done this. He found the voltage was above the allowed top safe E.U. limit and he immediately informed western Power. They promptly rectified the problem which involved a nearby transformer which serves the area.

"We cannot recommend Boxall's Electrician highly enough."

We contacted David Boxall to sort out the CU in our old cottage, after the 40 year old original had been upgraded to the current RCD protected unit by an electrician who failed to get it to operate and informed us that the property required a complete rewire.

We found David to be knowledgeable and experienced and excellent at problem solving in an old property. As a result of his methodical testing and diagnosis, it transpired that only a short length of lighting cable in the attic required replacing in the original wiring and by replacing worn sockets, switches and ceiling roses in the course of his work and remaking a few connections to meet current specifications he achieved results which have left us fully confident that we now have a safe and fully protected electricity supply to the cottage and all the outbuildings.
It would be hard to find a more professional, courteous, hard-working, efficient person to work in your home with the minimum of disruption and mess and the bonus of possessing all the building skills to make good any damage, both structural and cosmetic, made necessary by the work he has done.
